Lyn Taylor, from Weston-Super-Mare lost 17lbs
‘I actually spent the majority of my life being underweight and only started to put weight on when I reached my forties and my metabolism started to slow. I’ve never been very good at eating regular meals and until Go Lower rarely used to eat anything at all during the day so I think my body must have finally slipped into starvation mode and started storing extra fat for emergencies! Basically I would wait until my husband got in at eight o’clock in the evening and then finally eat a big meal with him. I love potatoes and pasta so I usually had one of the two, followed by a bowl of cereal before bed.
A while back I was diagnosed with depression and wasn’t feeling very good about myself in general. This made me realise I really needed to give myself a boost and do something about my weight and my eating habits. I liked the idea of Go Lower because all the meals are prepared for you so you don’t have to think about food all the time. I decided I had nothing to lose and gave it a go.
The hardest thing about the diet initially was educating myself to eat proper meals every day. For the first three days I certainly felt a few carbohydrate cravings but it’s honestly been a doddle ever since. I love the fact that it is so flexible - for example if I really don’t feel like lunch, I can have extra nut clusters instead so I still feel like I am getting my daily cereal fix.
Go Lower has become second nature to me and unlike other diets I have tried in the past, I don’t feel like it’s a temporary thing. It’s part of my new lifestyle. I am eating regularly and have been so impressed by the quality of the food that I can’t see myself ever going back to my old habits.
I’ve always preferred to eat fresh food rather than packet food or ready meals but the Go Lower meals don’t feel like microwave dinners. I have never found a piece of fat or gristle and I even serve them up to the rest of my family from time to time. My husband and son are both big fans of the chicken curry. They have theirs with rice, while I pile on plenty of fresh vegetables, which I love.
Thanks to my new way of eating, I no longer feel middle-aged and frumpy. My energy levels have soared and my skin is brighter and younger-looking too. Nowadays when I look in the mirror I still see my bad points but for the first time in ages, I see all the good points too.
All my friends and family think I look great and I feel great. I keep telling them that it’s not just the 17lbs I have lost I have lost 10 years too!'
