Myths behind Obesity

The 6 Big Myths behind Obesity:

    • Myth 1: People are overweight because they are lazy and overeating - wrong! Even the government studies show that more of us are eating less and doing more, but we are all getting fatter.

    • Myth 2: Low fat is good – wrong! Fats are absolutely essential to our diet, and, in fact, even the World Health Organisation has admitted that there is absolutely no link between the intake of saturated fats and heart disease. Fats are not dangerous, but essential.

    • Myth 3: Eat less will make fat people thin - wrong! Eat less and your metabolism drops and your body will simply burn less calories. Stop a low calorie diet and you will start to gain weight, which is why most people keep going back to weight watchers again and again.

    • Myth 4: Exercise is the solution – wrong. Exercise is great for maintaining weight and is fantastic for health, but really makes no impact on significant weight loss.

    • Myth 5: The government is right – wrong. The healthy eating guidelines set by the government are actually making some of us fatter and fatter. Read Big Fat Lies to find out more.

    • Myth 6: Eating too much makes you fat – wrong! The reason many of us get fat is because we produce too much insulin. Foods that stimulate insulin are starch and sugar and if you eat a lot of starch and sugar, the body can begin to over produce insulin. The over production of insulin causes the body to gain fat, even when we are not over eating. Peer reviewed, controlled, scientific studies show, consistently, that diets which are low in starch and sugar and high in protein, are not only the best for losing weight fast, but have the best long term out comes.
